Becoming more like Jesus

Luke 21:37-38 “Each day Jesus was teaching at the temple and each evening he went out to spend the night on the hill called the mount of olives, and all the people came early in the morning to hear him at the temple.”

(Luke 6:1-10 “Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath)

V5 The Jesus said to them, the son of man is Lord of the Sabbath.  (v1 On Sabbath together with the disciples they were going through the grain fields. V6 Another Sabbath, he went into the synagogue to teach.

V9 Jesus said to them, “I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil? To save life or destroy it?

(V12-16: Calling the twelve apostles)

V12 One of those days, Jesus went out on a mountain side to pray, and spent the night praying to God.

V13 When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he designated apostles.

(V17-26: Blessings and Woes)

V17 Jesus went down from the mountain with the 12 and stood on a level place. A large crowd of his disciples was there and a great number of people from all over Judea, Jerusalem and Coastal region around Tyre and Sidon, V18 who came to hear him and be healed of their diseases. Those troubled by impure spirits were cured, v19 and the people all tried to touch him, because power was coming from him and healing them all”

NB: It is important to note that Jesus had come from the mountain to pray.

V37 Do not judge, condemn, and forgive

V38 “Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over; it will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you”.

(V39: Parable)

Who is your mentor, who or what leads or influences you? Will it make you fall into a pit?

V41-42 God’s word is what removes our planks, and thereafter we can help others remove others specks by the same word.

(V43-45: A tree and its fruit)

V45 “For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of (fruit)
