Luke 19:13 [11-27] Parable of the Ten Minas/Pounds

v13 – Put this money t work until I come (NIV)

–Do business till I come (NKJV)

–Occupy till I come (KJV)

–Operate with this until I return (MSG)

–Invest this for me while I am gone (NLT)

In this parable, the servants and enemies of Jesus are referred to here.

v14 The enemies said, we don’t want this man to be our king.

v15 He was made king, however and returned home.

v22 His master replied, “I will judge you by your own words”

v23 The lazy servant could have deposited the masters money even if he was too lazy.

v26 Everyone who has more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what they have will be taken away.

All have received the same measure of the Gospel, and we must be committed, invest our time in sharing the Gospel, serving the Lord until he returns.

We must serve him while it is still day time for night is coming when no one can serve him – John 9:4

When the master comes, all of us will give an account of ourselves before God.

To Occupy is to work for God:

Many troubles come for being idle:

1 Thessalonians 4:11Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. (NLT)

Ecclesiastes 10:18Laziness leads to a sagging roof;  idleness leads to a leaky house. (NIV)

Proverbs 24:30-31I walked by the field of a lazy person, the vineyard of one with no common sense.  I saw that it was overgrown with nettles.  It was covered with weeds, and its walls were broken down. (NLT)

The Bible Encourages us to Abound Serving the Lord & Not to be idle:

Matt 12:36-37 And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. 37 The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.” (NLT)

Ephesians 5:4Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God.  (NLT)

1 Peter 3:10For the Scriptures say,

“If you want to enjoy life
    and see many happy days,
keep your tongue from speaking evil
    and your lips from telling lies. (NLT)

Luke 10:2 These were his instructions to them: “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields. (NLT)

1 Corinthians 15:58 – So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless. (NIV)

Examples of  idleness and  the results:

2 Samuel 11 – David who ended up sinning with Bathsheba when he was idle on a roof top

Judges 16 – Samson when he became idling around in Gaza and ended up in Delilahs hands

**Ensure that you will not go to heaven empty handed, for the master will ask you: “What have you brought?

Mark 11:12-25 We should draw a lesson from the fig tree which was cursed for not bearing fruit.
