{"id":2380,"date":"2024-06-09T12:11:07","date_gmt":"2024-06-09T12:11:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.giveasmiletoday.org\/?p=2380"},"modified":"2024-06-09T12:48:47","modified_gmt":"2024-06-09T12:48:47","slug":"glory-of-the-new-covenant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.giveasmiletoday.org\/?p=2380","title":{"rendered":"Glory of the New Covenant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ministers of the New Covenant:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2 Corinthians 2:12-17<\/strong> <strong>&#8211;\u00a0<\/strong><em> <span class=\"text 2Cor-2-12\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12 <\/sup>Now when I went to Troas\u00a0to preach the gospel of Christ\u00a0and found that the Lord had opened a door\u00a0for me,<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28838\" class=\"text 2Cor-2-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13\u00a0<\/sup>I still had no peace of mind,\u00a0because I did not find my brother Titus\u00a0there. So I said goodbye to them and went on to Macedonia.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span id=\"en-NIV-28839\" class=\"text 2Cor-2-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14\u00a0<\/sup>But thanks be to God,\u00a0who always <strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">leads us as captives in Christ\u2019s triumphal procession<\/span><\/strong> and uses us to spread the aroma\u00a0of the knowledge\u00a0of him everywhere.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28840\" class=\"text 2Cor-2-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup>For we are to God the <strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">pleasing aroma\u00a0of Christ<\/span><\/strong> among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28841\" class=\"text 2Cor-2-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup>To the one we are an aroma that brings death;\u00a0to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task?<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28842\" class=\"text 2Cor-2-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17\u00a0<\/sup>Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit.\u00a0On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity,\u00a0as those sent from God.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Results of Our Ministry<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2 Corinthians 3:1-6 &#8211; <\/strong><span id=\"en-NIV-28843\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-1\">Are we beginning to commend ourselves\u00a0again? Or do we need, like some people, letters of recommendation\u00a0to you or from you?<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28844\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2\u00a0<\/sup>You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28845\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-3\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>Y<em>ou show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry<\/em><\/span>, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God,\u00a0not on tablets of stone\u00a0but on tablets of human hearts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28846\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>Such confidence\u00a0we have through Christ before God.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28847\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>Not that we are competent in ourselves\u00a0to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28848\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">6<\/span>\u00a0<\/sup><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant<\/span>\u2014not of the letter\u00a0but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Greater Glory&#8230;&#8230;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text 2Cor-3-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>Now if the ministry that brought death,\u00a0which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory,\u00a0transitory though it was,<\/span>\u00a0<em><span id=\"en-NIV-28850\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-8\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup>will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious?<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28851\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>If the ministry that brought condemnation\u00a0was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness!<\/span><\/span><span id=\"en-NIV-28852\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-10\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10\u00a0<\/sup>For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory<\/span>.<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<strong><em><span id=\"en-NIV-28853\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-11\" style=\"color: #808000;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">11\u00a0<\/sup>And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span id=\"en-NIV-28854\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-12\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore, since we have such a hope,\u00a0we are very bold.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<em><span id=\"en-NIV-28855\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-13\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13\u00a0<\/sup>We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face\u00a0to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away.<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28856\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14\u00a0<\/sup>But their minds were made dull,\u00a0for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant\u00a0is read.\u00a0It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28857\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup>Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28858\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup>But whenever anyone turns to the Lord,\u00a0the veil is taken away.<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span id=\"en-NIV-28859\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17\u00a0<\/sup>Now the Lord is the Spirit,\u00a0and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.<\/span><\/em><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28860\" class=\"text 2Cor-3-18\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18\u00a0<\/sup>And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord\u2019s glory,\u00a0are being transformed into his image\u00a0with <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">ever-increasing glor<\/span>y, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Precious Ministry in Clay Jars:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2 Corinthians 4:1<\/strong>\u00a0 &#8211; <em>Therefore, since through God\u2019s mercy\u00a0we have this ministry, we do not lose heart<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>v4<\/strong> The god\u00a0of this age\u00a0has blinded\u00a0the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">light of the gospel<\/span> that <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">displays the glory of Christ<\/span>,\u00a0who is the <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">image of God<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"chapter-1\"><span id=\"en-NIV-28866\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\"><strong>6<\/strong>\u00a0<\/sup>For God, who said, \u201c<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Let light shine out of darkness<\/span>,\u201d made his light shine in our hearts\u00a0to give us the light of the knowledge of God\u2019s glory displayed in the face of Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span id=\"en-NIV-28867\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\"><strong>7<\/strong>\u00a0<\/sup>But we have this treasure in jars of clay\u00a0to show that this all-surpassing power is from God\u00a0and not from us.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28868\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup>We are hard pressed on every side,\u00a0but not crushed; perplexed,\u00a0but not in despair;<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28869\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>persecuted,\u00a0but not abandoned;\u00a0struck down, but not destroyed.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28870\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10\u00a0<\/sup>We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus,\u00a0so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28876\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-16\"><strong><sup class=\"versenum\">16 <\/sup>Therefore we do not lose heart<\/strong>.\u00a0Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly\u00a0we are being renewed\u00a0day by day.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28877\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17\u00a0<\/sup>For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">eternal glory<\/span> that far outweighs them all.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28878\" class=\"text 2Cor-4-18\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18\u00a0<\/sup>So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen,\u00a0since what is seen is temporary, but <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">what is unseen is eternal<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>New Glorious Bodies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"chapter-1\"><em><span class=\"text 2Cor-5-1\">1 For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God,<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> an eternal house in heaven<\/span>, not built by human hands.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28880\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2\u00a0<\/sup><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Meanwhile we groan,\u00a0longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling,<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28881\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28882\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>For while we are in this tent, we groan\u00a0and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling,\u00a0so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28883\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-5\" style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span id=\"en-NIV-28884\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-6\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord.<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span id=\"en-NIV-28885\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>For we live by faith, not by sight.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"en-NIV-28886\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup>We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28887\" class=\"text 2Cor-5-9\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>So we make it our goal to please him,\u00a0whether we are at home in the body or away from it.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>2 Corinthians 7:1<\/strong> &#8211;
