**God is already in the futur<\/em>e**<\/span><\/p>\n

Hebrews 11:20-22<\/strong> 20\u00a0<\/sup>By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau in regard to their future. <\/span>21\u00a0<\/sup>By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph\u2019s sons, and worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff.\u00a0<\/span>22\u00a0<\/sup>By faith Joseph, when his end was near, spoke about the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt and gave instructions concerning the burial of his bones.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In Genesis 47-50<\/strong>: Jacob blesses Joseph’s sons; and Joseph prophesies about deliverance.<\/p>\n

Jacob & Esau: Genesis 25:19-34 (CEV)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Genesis 25:23<\/strong> Talks of two Nations in Rebekah’s womb (Distinct people\/identities<\/em>)<\/p>\n

v27<\/strong> Talks about Esau’s<\/strong> temperament\/personality<\/span>: A skilled hunter or an outdoor man<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Jacob’s<\/strong> personality\/temperament is presented as a man of quiet life, a shepherd living among the tents<\/em>.<\/p>\n

v28<\/strong> Isaac loved Esau because he enjoyed eating the wild game brought home by Esau. On the other hand, Rebekah loved Jacob.<\/p>\n

v29-34<\/strong> shows the dangers of favoritism in a family.<\/span><\/p>\n

Observation of Chapter 27<\/strong><\/span>: We see that Isaac called his two sons (Esau & Jacob) separately. Why?? This shows the division which was running in the family.<\/p>\n

Benefits of being involved in your children affairs:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

**Genesis 24:1-4<\/strong> shows that Abraham was involved in Isaac’s marriage. Result:<\/span> v67<\/strong> Isaac was comforted by his wife Rebekah after his mother’s death.<\/p>\n

**Genesis 26:34<\/strong> shows that Isaac on the other hand was not involved in Esau’s marriage. Result:<\/span> Gen 27:46<\/strong> Esau’s wives were a source of grief to Isaac and Rebekah.<\/p>\n

Dangers of Favoritism: Continuation……….Genesis 27:1-17<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

–Breeds lies and conmanship<\/p>\n

–Breeds unethical & unscriptural behaviors<\/p>\n

Genesis 27:41<\/strong> Shows a grudge between siblings……v44 Shows a life of fear\/mistrust<\/p>\n

Dangers<\/strong>: **Suffering<\/span>** (Genesis 31:40-41, Genesis 47:7<\/strong>) Shows that deception doesn’t pay, Jacob ended upt living few and difficult years. In Genesis 29:25-26<\/strong>\u00a0 Jacob encountered Laban who also cheated him thrice: In wages, breeding and marriage.<\/p>\n

There is hope for Healing in Families:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Genesis 35:28-29<\/strong> shows that both Esau and Jacob buried their father together after reconciling****<\/span><\/p>\n

Genesis 33:1-12<\/strong> shows that Esau didn’t keep the grudge for 20 years<\/span> *** When he met Jacob after 20 years, he embraced him, hugged him and they both wept.\u00a0 In v10<\/strong> he said, <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“when you welcomed me and I saw your face, it was like seeing the face of God…”<\/em> (CEV<\/strong>)\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“And what a relief to see your friendly smile…..”<\/em>(NLT<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

“When I saw your face, it was as the face of God smiling on me…..”(MSG<\/strong>)<\/p>\n
